Choosing the right air conditioning system for a commercial property is very different from picking one for a home. Hotels, offices, hospitals, and retail spaces each have their own cooling demands, and getting the system wrong means higher energy bills, uncomfortable guests, or costly retrofits down the line.
For individual rooms with clear walls -- hotel guest rooms, private offices, small clinics -- a wall-mounted split system is usually the most cost-effective choice. It offers independent temperature control per room and is straightforward to install and service.
Open-plan spaces such as lobbies, ballrooms, and large meeting rooms need even coverage across a wide floor area. Ceiling cassette units, which distribute air in four directions from a single point, are built for exactly this kind of layout and avoid the cold spots that wall-mounted units struggle with.
For buildings with many separate zones that need to run independently -- a multi-storey hotel or office tower, for example -- a VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) system lets a single outdoor unit serve dozens of indoor units, each with its own thermostat, while keeping energy use proportional to actual demand.
Large-scale properties such as hospitals, malls, and big hotel complexes are usually better served by a centralized chiller system, which cools water or refrigerant at a central plant and distributes it throughout the building. Chillers cost more upfront but scale efficiently for very large capacities (30TR and above).
